If anyone has a horse they saved from the kill pen, please tell me about that horse. I am writing an article for NW Horse Source, and they want to publish it, but would like to have examples of why people should consider saving a horse from the kill pen. Even if you don't live in the NW, I want to hear about your kill pen rescue! The story about your rescue can save allot of future kill pen horses, making your horse a hero. I also want to ad that if you have a photo of your horse showing disposition, talent...etc Please share that too. You must own all rights to the photo, because if the Editor pick's your photo when I send it in, we will need your permission to publish it. Thanks! I will also be submitting this article to, Horse & Rider, Horse Illustrated, Young Rider, Breed journals...etc www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Stop-Horse-Kill-Pens/240858652681635 www.sites.google.com/site/stophorsekillpens/www.sites.google.com/site/babiessavedfromslaughter/www.sites.google.com/site/minisponiessavedfromslaughter/

I have an approx. 28 year old Arabian mare, which I took in almost 3 years ago. She was one of 20+ Arabians at the auction and they where destined for slaughter. All of them where rescued and a local group brought 9 of them to the area. This particular mare was in horrible shape. Skinny, her hoofs haven't been trimmed in a long time, her tail was so matted, she dragged it behind her like pulling a log. Her teeth where so bad, the dentist had to pull 8 because they where rotten down to the gums. She is now in great shape and lives out her life as a pasture mate to my gelding. I have "before and after" photos available.
